Overview

PPC Pool Services, a professional swimming pool service provider based in Paphos, Cyprus, approached me to redesign their website. With nearly 20 years of industry experience, the business needed a modern, user-friendly website to effectively communicate their services and expertise to potential clients.

During discussions with the managing director, several critical issues were identified with their existing site. These included:

• Thin content across pages: The website featured sparse and low-value content spread across multiple pages, such as an "About" page with minimal information. Visitors struggled to find meaningful details.
• Lack of service clarity: Visitors were unable to easily understand what services the business offered due to the absence of a clear and prominent description of the company's offerings.
• A cluttered and overwhelming CMS dashboard: The backend interface was cluttered, making content management difficult for the client and hindering their ability to update or maintain the website effectively.
• Poor website performance: The site suffered from slow load times caused by an unoptimized theme and lack of optimization.

To address these challenges within the client's limited budget, I not only redesigned the website but also developed a reusable custom theme called Rapido, which became the foundation for PPC Pool Services' final website.

Key decisions included consolidating low-value pages (like "About") into rich sections on the homepage to streamline content presentation. While adding more detailed pages could have been an option, budget constraints necessitated focusing on a single-page design that delivered high-quality content efficiently.

To deliver an optimized solution for PPC Pool Services, I implemented the following:

• Streamlined homepage design: Designed and developed a homepage to replace multiple low-value pages. This streamlined approach ensured the presentation of rich, high-quality content in a single, cohesive layout, enhancing user engagement, improving navigation, and boosting search engine rankings.
• Service clarity: Placed a services section at the top of the homepage with clickable elements that open detailed dialogs for further exploration.
• CMS simplification: Streamlined the backend by hiding unnecessary menus and settings to make content management easy for the client.
• Performance optimization:
  • Optimized images using TinyPNG API.
  • Extracted critical styles for faster rendering.
  • Deferred loading of off-screen assets to improve initial load times.
  • Cached entire routes to enhance page speed.
